Wine Leather

Wine Leather

Also called Grape Leather and created in Italy by Vegea®, this vegan leather alternative is made from grape skins, stalks and seeds left over from the production of wine.

The process starts when the remains of the wine production, the grape marc, are dried. It is then combined with vegetable oil and water-based polyurethane (PUD) to create an eco-composite material.

The resulting bio-based material is coated to result in a leather alternative made from more than 70% renewable and recycled raw materials.

For every 10 litres of wine, about 2.5 litres of waste is produced which allows 1 square meter of leather to be produced. Who said guilt free drinking didn't exist!
